We would like to share a couple of our favorite Winter Tips with you

Did you know that tire pressure drops by about one pound per ten degrees of temperature? Our Service Advisors will be happy to check your tire pressure for you, if you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself. Many newer vehicles have tire pressure monitors, which alert you when the tire pressure is low. Don't forget about your spare tire, you never know when you will need it. Do you have Nitrogen in your tires?

Winter puts more stress on your battery, particularly if you park your car outdoors. When is the last time you had your battery checked? Batteries lose power as the temperature drops. So not only do you need MORE power to start the engine in winter, you also get LESS power from your battery.

While many people think of overheating as a summer problem, cars can overheat in winter, too, if they run low on or out of coolant. Overheating can cause expensive engine damage and low coolant can affect your heater. It is pretty easy to check your coolant, but if you aren't sure, we would be happy to show you how.

Remember to turn off your wiper blades, before shutting off the engine. Your wiper blades may freeze to the windshield, and when you start your car, the wiper motor may burn out trying to get them back to the “rest position”.

It is a good idea to keep extra windshield washer fluid in your car. On a snowy or messy day, you can easily go through half a gallon or more of windshield washer fluid trying to keep your windshield clear.

It is always a good idea to warm up your car or truck before you drive in the winter. Revving a cold engine causes additional wear, and a warm car is much safer and comfortable to get into.

Local Student awarded $5,000 by Chevrolet for random act of kindness part of Rachel's Challenge

Our congratulations go out to Meredith Ritchie of Charlotte.

Meredith submitted a video on random acts of kindness as part of Rachel's Challenge on WCNC. Videos were submitted by students across the Charlotte metro area. The Carolina Chevy Dealers were proud to award Meredith a check for $5,000 for her winning video. Meredith came to Parks Chevrolet on North Tryon to accept her award. Great job Meredith!!

Hubert B. Parks began in the car business back in the mid 1950's. He had moved to Winston-Salem NC, with his new wife and as he stood on the corner of 4th Street and Broad, he knew he could go left and work at Sears or go right and work for the Chevrolet dealer on the corner. He chose the right and never looked back. He sold cars with Chevrolet until he opened his first dealership in 1962. It was a Rambler store. And in 1967, he opened Parks Chevrolet in Kernersville NC. It started in a small refurbished gas station and grew into one of North Carolina’s most successful franchises. In 1996, he opened Parks Chevrolet in Charlotte NC and in 2001, he opened Parks Chevrolet at the Lake in Huntersville NC.

Parks Chevrolet continues to be a family run dealership, where honesty and integrity are very important. We offer a complete dealership experience- buy a vehicle, service, parts and a body shop.
